Gavin Johnson | North Vancouver, BC
What he's known for:
I am a competitive rock climber from North Vancouver, BC. I have been a part of the local climbing scene since I was very young and it has influenced me immensely. Climbing is my life and everything else seems to fall in place around it. I'm also told I'm hella lanky.
My Name is Gavin Johnson, I am 20 years old and have been a climber for all of my life. Since I first tried climbing, or the first time being pulled up the rock by my parents rather, I was hooked. It has become somewhat of an addiction. It’s funny how a passion like climbing can end up being the cornerstone of your life with everything else revolving around it. The friendships and connections that I have made through climbing have shaped me into who I am today. I have been a competitive rock climber for the past 11 years of my life and have competed all across Canada and into the United States. I have participated in many different aspects of the sport, from coaching, to attending competitions, volunteering, and now pushing my passion to the next level. I look forward to pursuing personal challenges and goals in every aspect of my life. I am always striving to gain new knowledge about climbing, so I can educate others about the sport and help new climbers get hooked like I did. I feel that I have been an inspiration and example to many, and hope that I am able to continue with this as my experience grows. I have been highly motivated to consistently push my limits to the next level.
Words he lives by:
"A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at." - Bruce Lee
For me, climbing at its very core is about pushing the limits of what is possible and pushing yourself beyond what you think you can achieve.
